How to Grant Access to TeamViewer App for Mac

If you're using the latest release of TeamViewer 14 on your Mac running macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or higher, you'll be presented with a dialog that requires you to grant access to the app in order to remotely control your machine. This is due to a new security mechanism introduced by Apple, which requires special access to be granted to remote control applications like TeamViewer.

When starting TeamViewer on your Mac, you'll be prompted with a dialog asking for permission to access your computer. Clicking 'Request Access' will bring up the Accessibility Access (Events) dialog, where you can choose to grant access to TeamViewer. Note that this process differs between Mojave and Catalina, so we've provided separate guides below.

To grant access to TeamViewer on your Mac running macOS 10.14 (Mojave):

1. Click the button 'Open System Preferences.'

2. In the dialog shown above, click the 'Request Access' button, which will bring you to this Accessibility Access (Events) dialog:

Once in this dialog, check the box next to 'Accessibility' and then select 'TeamViewer' from the dropdown menu. You'll be prompted with a message asking if you're sure you want to grant access to TeamViewer.

To grant access to TeamViewer on your Mac running macOS 10.15 (Catalina):

1. If you're using an older version of TeamViewer, you won't see this dialog.

2. When starting TeamViewer on your Mac, you'll be presented with a dialog asking for permission to access your computer.

In the 'Allow' section, click on the dropdown menu next to 'TeamViewer' and select 'Enable'.

Note that these additional permissions must be granted locally on the Mac and require admin rights. Without this access, TeamViewer users connecting to macOS 10.14 or higher will only be able to view the screen but not control it with their mouse or keyboard. On macOS 10.15 or higher, they'll also only be able to view the desktop background and the TeamViewer app, but not any other applications at all.

By granting access to TeamViewer on your Mac, you'll be able to remotely control your machine and collaborate with others more effectively.
